Hi arpi ...

sorry if you are angry ... but I've think about it ...

I don't know how good you know VDR, but it can jump ANYWHERE in the
movie ... without problems.
I've asked Klaus (writer of VDR), hi told me VDR uses the "index.vdr".
There are infos saved for what frame it is and where to find it.

So we've to possiblities.

1) to parse the index.vdr file (the best way I think)
2) I've read about a tool to regenerate this file. I don't know how well
it works, I'll try to find it. If it works, we could maybe implement it
into mplayer.

the problem with this is, that (I think so) will not work with e.g.
Pipe... only from file

and I think the second and third "wishes" (beginning & endpoint)
schouldn't be a problem, and a lot of there encoders have this feature.
So it would be usefull for a lot of users.
