The input source from the DVD was 29.970 that clearly had a 2:3 pull-down from 24 FPS but every time I attempted an IVTC with standard methods in mencoder, the audio would always be out of sync.

By the way, I used these options with ffmpeg as on the site examplle: fieldmatch=order=tff:combmatch=full, yadif=deint=interlaced, decimate for the other discs to get IVTC'd material. While it took considerably longer to encode, the quality looks excellent and the audio stays on sync. I will consider re-doing the disc 4 content to see if it does the same. Thanks for the help
