I did try to recompile MEncoder even from the last "official" release and nothing I did would make it work...

If you're interested I'd be happy to send you a copy of the video and a copy of my conversion via Dropbox.  Just let me know and I can arrange it...

Then maybe you can see if it's something I'm doing or a possible bug.  Thanks again!
