I know you like to harp on about MEncoder not being actively maintained
etc etc....
But there are some things that MEncoder just does better than FFmpeg,
and in my
experience encoding DVD compatible video content is one of those things.
I have yet to get a video out of FFmpeg using existing mpeg2 video that
dvdauthor
accepts without a remux beforehand, never have that issue with MEncoder and
-of mpeg -mpegopts format=dvd
So please stop giving people the impression that MEncoder is useless, as
it isn't.
