Hi, Reimar!
Firstly, thanks for the other advice, in the other message, on
backtrace and how to recompile mplayer; in case I get segfault crashes
again  will be considering it.
As well as the advice you wrote below.
I be following is next thing to do, ASAP (but that takes time here).
