[MEncoder-users] yadif: what does "spatial interlacing check" mean?

I am now using yadif=1 without knowing what I am doing ;-)

No. framestep=2 will just throw away 1 frame. Of course you get a
way smoother image when you run at e.g. at 50 fps than at 25 fps.
