[MEncoder-users] Is it possible to define different compression factors on the same frame?

 I have the following use case:

I developed an application to get video from a security camera with
date/hour information displaying on the video feed. After this video is
completely saved on the hard disk, I heavily compress it and store it in a
database.

The problem is: after the strong compression, the date/hour information on
the image is completely unreadable.

Is it possible to define an area around the date/time information to encode
it with low compression while the rest of the frame is highly compressed?
