I just tested this using:

/usr/local/bin/mencoder -demuxer lavf  ../Copy/copy.mpg -o /dev/null -fps 25 -ofps 25 -lavdopts threads=8 -ovc x264 -x264encopts pass=1:bitrate=1500:turbo=2:me=umh:me_range=24:nodct_decimate:nointerlaced:8x8dct:nofast_pskip:trellis=1:partitions=p8x8,b8x8,i8x8,i4x4:keyint=250:keyint_min=25:psy_rd=0.8,0.2:frameref=3:bframes=6:b_adapt=2:b_pyramid=none:weight_b:direct_pred=auto:subq=7:mbtree=0:chroma_me:cabac:aq_mode=1:deblock=-3-3:level_idc=41:threads=auto:ssim:psnr -vf yadif,expand=aspect=16/9,scale=1024:576,hqdn3d,harddup -field-dominance -1 -sws 10 -oac faac -faacopts br=192:mpeg=4:object=2 -srate 48000 -channels 2

but it failed:
