The cookie file is:
# HTTP Cookie File
# http://www.netscape.com/newsref/std/cookie_spec.html
.(domain) TRUE / FALSE 1585837813 PREF f1=40000000
.(domain) TRUE / FALSE 1291213813 VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE
cVvCQJQuwqo
I thought this was the right syntax. (domain) is of course a real domain.
I also tried Kovensky's and Pahl's mencoder, and received the same error.

Well, the message "can not happen" after the fix, see
http://bugzilla.mplayerhq.hu/show_bug.cgi?id=1638
The full output allows some sanity-checks like that you gave indeed
the right version number etc.
Unless someone with a clean build on a clean MinGW install can reproduce it,
I'd suggest to report it to "Sherpya" instead, since it works for me.
(I assume you made sure the cookies file is not in the process of being
written or so when you start MPlayer).
