I make it a point not to encourage laziness.  You can figure it out in
less time than it takes to write an e-mail...

This has no relevance.  You can see exactly what each -vf option will
do.  Throwing-in a bunch of commands that you don't understand, and then
just complaining that they all don't look good, is not productive.

MPlayer does no smoothing unless you tell it to do so, and the HARDWARE
(not "MPlayer") scaling can be disabled in a number of ways.
