[MEncoder-users] how to convert mkv to avi?

The reason why I wanted to convert mkv to avi is to play this films on the
usual home theatre (because it plays avi).
So I see before to convert I have to know what is inside mkv container,
how todo that -- is Mediainfo a program for that?
