[MEncoder-users] FFMpeg and MEncoder Results to Match

I am trying to get FFMpeg and MEncoder results to match.  I am not able
to do this.  It seems that FFMpeg always encodes at very high quality by
default where-as MEncoder does only what you tell it.  In case it
matters I am encoding to x264.  A couple questions:

1. Is there a way to tell FFMpeg to pass only the options I specify to
x264?

2. No matter what I do I cannot get MEncoder to seek to an exact
position in the video (the -ss option).  The same problem applies to
-endpos and -frames.  FFMpeg works perfectly though.  Is this a known
problem, and is it going to be fixed?
