Yes, they are the output of capturing from tv-card by
streamer program of xawtv application on a linux(
Ubuntu=7.10-amd64 on a 2-core intel cpu computer).

limits file size to 4Gb, regardless of what your file
system can handle, then, by definition, any AVI larger
than 4Gb is broken.
Do you know that xawtv ?
Its output files can be played with the same version
of mplayer that i use its mencoder for encoding
(1.0rc2-4.1.3) (the newest stable version of mplayer &
mencoder)
Thus probably there is not problem related to avi
format. and mplayer and mencoder as the "The Wanderer"
tells in bellow can work with more that 4 Gig .avi
files.

muxing and when demuxing.

files 'a a' is using are OpenDML AVIs or not, but
because they are having failures at the 4GB mark, the
likelihood is that they are not.
Thanks to "The Wanderer"
Do you know the xawtv? that is an application in
linuxes for tv watching and capturing and my version
is 3.95.dfsg.1-6ubuntu1 .i used it for capturing those
big sized .avi files. with format of mjpeg format in
.avi container
and those big .avi files can be played with the
mplayer, but when encding with mencoder of same
version, that problem occurred :-(
I emphasized that i am using this combination of xawtv
and mencoder for about 6 month for capturing many
films from this tv-card, without any problem related
to file size( all of other my capture files are less
than 4 Gig, of course.)
Is there any other idea for solving this problem ?
thanks
