Hi,

I'm currently trying to understand on my own how does one interlace
progressive content with mencoder during encoding and I have a (simple?)
question about the phase and tinterlace filters... I know interlacing is a
bad idea but I'm too curiouse and I want to understand it :)

I'm dealing with 25 fps progressive PAL content but I guess this also applies
to NTSC as well (correct me if I'm wrong here).

My question basically is, when using phase=t,tinterlace=2 should one also
double the output frame rate with -ofps or can it be left at the original
frame rate (25fps in the case of PAL). I did a few tests here on a trailer
and without -ofps 50, the interlaced encoding is a *tiny* bit jumpy (hardly
noticeable but still). *With* -ofps 50, the interlaced content does not
appear to have these tiny jumps...

Also, when using these filters should the softskip filter also be inserted in
the filter chain?

Thanks
