[MEncoder-users] Does vf scale resample if input resolution is the same as desired output

 From the mplayer manual:

scale:

Scales the image with the software scaler (slow) and performs a 
YUV<−>RGB colorspace conversion (also see −sws).

If you include vf scale in your command line for 720:480 and the source 
is already 720:480, does mencoder perform the scale (colorspace 
conversion, etc.) or does it see that the dimensions are the same and 
skip the scale.

I'm performing batch jobs with mencoder and want to know if it's safe to 
leave the scale filter in the command line at all times.
