Most likely not.  The output file might still be fine.  Look at the
running bitrate of the video and audio streams, if anything's really
wrong, one of them will go to 0.

Having too many video packets in the buffer :-)

It can be a corrupt file, a bug in the demuxer or decoder, or
video/audio getting far out of sync with each other (too small an mc
value).

Forgive my ignorance, what is an mc value?  The file I'm encoding is one
large vob file.

The first one finished and the video seems okay, I haven't watched all of it
yet.
