[MEncoder-users] Should I use ignore-start for joining DV files

Hello,

I have sequences of DV files streamed from a dv device with the 'dvgrab'
utility (the files are part of the same session, and were splitted by dvgrab
every two GB for easy dvd archiving).
To join them, is it ok to use mencoder -oac copy -ovc copy -o merged.avi
01.dv.avi 02.dv.avi 03.dv.avi ...
or should I add the -ignore-start option ? and may be -no-skip -mc 0
(although I assume that in stream copy mode it should not be necessary)

the dv stream comes from a consumer level dv device, not dvcam, so I assume
the audio stream runs unlocked. But as a/v sync seems good I want mencoder
to preserve the sync as it is the dv stream.

Does it make a difference if the dv avi files are of type 1 (no avi audio,
audio samples are encapsulated in the dv video stream) or of type 2 (audio
is duplicated in avi and in the video stream) ?

Pierre
