[MEncoder-users] Estimate resulting video size

Hi there, i'm currently under development of a mini aplication, to act
as a mencoder front end...

How can i calculate the size of the final movie before doing the conversion ?
i found this http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mencoder-users/2006-February/002832.html
but that doesn't seem to work...
and i noticed also, that other software (like nero, or DVDShrink among
others) tell you with a very accurate precision the size, so i know is
possible.

Does any of you know how to do it ?
