[MEncoder-users] Video and Audio async

Hi everybody,

i'm a newbie to mencoder. I'm trying to encode uncompressed avi-files  
to an avi
with xvid and mp3lame.

mencoder input.avi -ovc xvid -oac mp3lame -xvidencopts bitrate=300 - 
mc 0 -ofps 25 -o output.avi

I already tested ffmpeg for encoding issues but i always have the  
same problem, also
with mencoder.
The length of the video and audio stream are not equal, for me its a  
big problem because
i want to merge the videos with avimerge or mencoder. The async of  
the videos grows with
the amount of videos i merge.

Can somebody tell me why the audiostream gets shorter when encoding  
to xvid/mp3?

Or is there an option to keep the a/v sync when i merge the videos  
together?
