[MEncoder-users] mplayer window blank on TV set hooked to laptop

Sorry for posting a question here which is not directly related to the 
subject of this discussion group. I hoped that people reading this list 
might know the solution.

I used to play my movies on my laptop hooked to a TV set. Recently I 
have upgraded from Windows 2000 to XP. Unfortunately, now when I play a 
movie with mplayer it shows it in the laptop's window properly, but the 
corresponding window on the TV screen is blank. I tried to solve this 
problem in a similar way as I did with Windows 2000, namely by making 
both the Panel and TV monitors active. I was able to do this from 
Control Panel --> Display --> Settings --> Advanced... --> Displays. 
Under XP I see only one default display.

What can I do to fix my problem?
