Actually, I used 640, and they work without any problems on my ipod, as 
long as I encode with lavc and not x264. I remember that when I first 
tried I encoded 320 videos with x264, but if I changed the resulotion to 
640, but otherwise keeping the exact command line it didn't work, so 
maybe that's only for h264 video?

Would you care to share the command line? since I've had no success yet 
it would be appreciated...
