Indeed. It is working but only when you stick to what
I have said. *NOTE* format=vcd. This is when and only
when you intend to play it on a computer. *If* you
want to play it with a *stand-alone vcd player* then
you better remux it with mplex.

If you use -lavfopts format=mpeg1 like he has stated
it is ok too. only that some versions of winamp too
will not play it and vcdimager or vcdxbuild will
reject it if you feed them with such a  file.

As long as his objective is to get many players to
play it. then "format=xvcd" will *not* be played by
some players ( eg WMP  except version 11 and winamp).
OTOH  for "format=vcd" like I have stated......
I am still to get the media player that will reject
it. 

In conclusion, the favorite player for linux users
according to linuxtag is mplayer and vlc. since they
both decode with lavc, most linux users will not get
any problem with such media files.
The problem has always been  windows users.. 
But then, not every one got all the time it takes to
hack......
