There isn't "a" guide - there are several, because MEncoder can be used
in many different ways depending on what you're trying to do with it.

'divx4' does not appear in my version of the man page (dev-SVN-r19766).
Is this 'divx4linux'? Support for that was removed.

Also, you are using a significantly outdated version of MEncoder. We no
longer use CVS, and have switched to Subversion (SVN); also, 1.0pre8 has
been released, I believe later than your version's date. You should
update to a more recent version.
