Just a note to say I discovered the package libasound2 appears to have
been the culprit for my increased CPU usage. When I upgraded from
1.0.11-3 to
1.0.11-4, CPU consumption fell back to normal levels.  I'm running
Marillat's version 1:1.0-pre8-0.1 of mencoder, with an saa7134 grabber card.
