[MEncoder-users] x264 profiles

I am trying to reencode a dvd to x264 and am finding the multitude of
encoding options slightly overwhelming. Is there any way to use the
fantastic looking profiles at
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=101813 for example, with
mencoder?

I can see that one option is to go through each xml file and attempt to
hand translate into the mencoder profile format but I would like to try
to avoid that if at all possible. I attach an example profile below.
