[MEncoder-users] Remove audio from video file

I have succesfully been able to strip the audio out of a .WMV video
file, and have it encoded into .MP3 file using the following command
line:

mencoder file.wmv -of rawaudio -oac mp3lame -ovc copy -o file.mp3

QUESTION #1
Are there other ways to accomplish this same task (removing audio
from video files), that is faster or better?

QUESTION #2
How do I change/adjust the bit rate that MP3 file is being encoded
at?

QUESTION #3
Although the MP3 file plays back fine, it (wrongly) shows the length
of the file to be 5 hours and 10 minutes long, when really it is only
45 minutes and 16 seconds long. How can this be corrected?
