[MEncoder-users] .avi with mpeg-4/mp3 to .avi with mpeg-2/mp3

Hello,

I have a bunch of files that I ripped from my dvd's into .avi/mpeg-4/mp3
format for a networked multimedia player (Dedicated Devices).  For reasons
that I won't go into here, I returned that unit and purchased a Buffalo
LinkTheater networked player.  The LinkTheater is nice, but it won't play
mpeg-4 video or anything other than mp3 audio.  I want to convert all of my
.avi files using mpeg-4/mp3 to .mpg files using mpeg-2/mp3.  I managed to
convert once, but the video was choppy and I kept on receiving error
messages.  

Can someone point me in the right direction for this?  I would prefer to
batch process the files...
