[MEncoder-users] mpeg-2 average video bitrate

Hi all,

I'm still trying to figure out how to encode an AVI file to MPEG-2 for
play on my DVD player. Tunning the vbitrate to 4000 the video plays good
(no video/audio interruptions), but there are a significant loss of
quality.

I'm thinking on take an mpeg file from a DVD that plays very good on the
player, and try to reproduce the values of it, video bitrate for example.
Is there any way to get the average video bitrate of a DVD (mpeg2) using
mencoder? how?
