I have a persistent problem with unsynchronised audio and video in
dvds converted from avi that play well in a computer.

When i asked my friend to convert them using convertxtodvd, the dvds
play perfectly in sync. He noticed that the converter flagged missing
audio frames as long as 24 ms and some missing video frames in several
places.

Are the missing frames the main reason why the dvds lose sync? How
does mencoder handle this?

things i hate about my linux pc:

1. it takes more than a second to boot up
2. keeps asking about filenames and directories
3. does not remember what i was working on yesterday
4. does not remember all the changes i have ever made
5.cannot figure out necessary settings by itself
