[MEncoder-users] cropdetect cuts off bottom of subtitles

I am using

mencoder -endpos 120 -ovc lavc -oac copy -o /dev/null -vf cropdetect dvd.avi

which I let run for a minute or two.  Then I am testing with

mencoder -endpos 120 -ovc lavc -oac copy -o crop.avi -vf 
crop=720:464:0:76 dvd.avi

This chops off the bottom of the subtitles.
