[MEncoder-users] encoding from usb device on windows xp

I'd like to encode from a usb webcam or the pinnacle pctv hd usb stick
on Windows XP.
I see from the docs various Linux examples, such as "device=<value>
Specify TV device (default: /dev/video0)"
 
Please pardon my ignorance; what's the Windows equivalent of
/dev/video0, if any?
