[MEncoder-users] -ffourcc problem!

Hi folks :-)

i'm doing a script to convert from dvd to avi:

[...]
mencoder $INPUTFILE -o $OUTPUTFILE -noskip $CUT -info name="$NAME" -oac 
mp3lame -ovc lavc -lavcopts 
vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=$VIDEOBR:vhq:vpass=2:autoaspect
[...]

this script (seems) ok (it's in 16.9) but i'd like change vtag to divx 
or xvid so i can play avi files to all players.

When i add -ffourcc xvid (or div3) the destination file isn't 16.9 but 
4.3 and i can't do seeking into the file.

How can i resolve this problem?
Is it a mine script problem?
