 Well, assuming the way to get this is -v -v -v and looking at the logs, it 
appears to say that the output is 29.97. At one point, however, this command 
line was generating some out-of-sync audio problems for me and something 
(can't recall what, perhaps the video looked strange itself) led me to 
believe it was a framerate problem. Does mplayer examine the same mpeg 
headers that tcprobe looks at?
