nope, it's the retail dvds from VIZ... the dotcrawling is present in the 
Maison Ikkoku dvds I have from them as well, though it is less appearent 
since there are so many other issues with those dvds. Maybe I should try 
to get hold of the japanese retail dvds, they usually have much better 
quality. It would cost too much though, but if I can find somewhere to 
get subtitles I might consider it in the future...
