No, enable is not the default; autodetection is the default.

We've been over this argument multiple times. There has, IIRC, been at
least one proposal of an alternate system of configure option names
which I would not have severe objections to, but nothing ever actually
got committed (or, that I recall, even submitted).

Please don't keep bringing it up to no good purpose.
