Hello *,

MeWiG, the MEncoder GUI for Windows has after a long silence been released in
version 0.010.

Revamping the insides of MeWiG has started (even if you won't notice much).
Right now there are mostly changes to the Video-Encoders interface. It is
more OO-like (inheritance and stuff) and should allow easier adaption of new
codecs. But some visible things did happen none the less.
Changes include:

    * Initial support for x264 (H.264 encoder)
    * More FFmpeg-Options, including support for vqscale (VBR-mode of FFmpeg)
        which is important mostly for encoding with Snow-Codec.
    * Removed deprecated 4mv-option for XviD (use me_quality to set it
        indirectly)
    * Using "correct" fracions instead of decimals for framrate, when using
        inv. telecine.
    * Switched to new audio-identifacation and new "pcm:file"-syntax (thus
        supporting recent MPlayer-builds)
    * Management of two-pass log-files. (Should be safe for parallel encoding
        on SMP-Machines)
    * Fixed some audio-extraction glitches.
    * Fixed a typo, that forgot the ".exe" after "mencoder_nocss" in scripts.

Due to the changes in "-ao pcm", MeWiG is forced to create temporary files in
the directory, where MeWiG is started from. They are deleted afterwards, but
be sure to have some free space before using Ogm-output or Audio-extraction.
Sorry. :(

There were so many (internal) changes, that something is likely to be broken.
Simply tell me :)

The default values for x264 are for slow speed and high quality. (At least,
this is what people told me, they were wantig H.264-support for.)
Using the 2pass-mode is more than strongly recommended for this codec.

Get it from http://mewig.sf.net

Have fun,
hco
