You're still leaving out important information. Never-the-less, your
problem is obvious.
Either you've got an old codecs.conf file somewhere, or you're encoding
with 1.0pre7 and trying to play it back with an earlier version.
If you want MPEG-4 videos encoded with 1.0pre7 or later to be
compatible with other players, you need to add "-ffourcc DIVX" to your
mencoder command-line.
Next time you have a problem, include the WHOLE output of mencoder and
mplayer, don't cut off the beginning and the end like you keep doing.
