[MEncoder-users] Segmentation fault while making avi from jpgs with mencoder

I'm using mencoder to encode .avi files from jpgs coming from
surveillance cameras, i run a cron script hourly that takes all the
jpgs from the directory used  by the cameras to upload jpgs via FTP,
but i get segmentation faults 50% of the times when doing the
encoding, no matter which codec i select (except raw).
This is the line that i use to encode the files.
mencoder mf://$CAMDIR/$CAM/$CAM\_$HOUR*.jpg -mf
w=320:h=240:type=jpg:fps=10 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=msmpeg4 -oac
copy -o $WWWDIR/$CAM/$CAM\_$HOUR\00.avi

and this is my mencoder version.

MEncoder 1.0pre6-3.3.4 (C) 2000-2004 MPlayer Team
CPU: Intel Pentium 4/Xeon/Celeron Northwood (Family: 8, Stepping: 4)

I'll greatly appreciate any help.
