  z=9 is still lossless png compression, it just takes more time to do it.

  no, the problem is with subsampling, resulting x264 is in YUV 12bpp format, while i need RGB 24bpp format to get lossless results.

  i wonder if this can be done, or i'll have to use uncompressed RGB 24bpp, as i do now.

  further more i wonder what lossless means.
