Hello,

I'm new on the ML and I would learn to encode video under Linux.
To test, I would encode a DVD to mkv ; for that I use Tuxrip
(http://tuxrip.free.fr), but I'm not satisfacted of the quality of
video. So I would try to encode with the x264 codec, but I haven't tried
to success :

anthony at tux ~/rip/ALLY_MCBEAL_DISC1 $ mencoder vob/ALLY_MCBEAL_DISC1.vob
-mc 0 -nosound -vf crop=704:576:10:0,scale=496:384 -ovc x264
-x264encopts
bframes=2:weight_b:b_pyramid:4x4mv:frameref=2:psnr:bitrate=1023:pass=1
-o /dev/null &&
 > mencoder vob/ALLY_MCBEAL_DISC1.vob -mc 0 -nosound -vf
crop=704:576:10:0,scale=496:384 -ovc x264 -x264encopts
bframes=2:weight_b:b_pyramid:4x4mv:frameref=2:psnr:bitrate=1023:pass=2
-o video/x264_sans_son.avi

I'm using Gentoo and I've this version of MPlayer :
tux anthony # emerge -ptv mplayer

These are the packages that I would merge, in reverse order:

I don't understand why I have : "x264encopts is not an MEncoder option"

Can any one help me please !?

Anthony
