	I tried to read some of these docs – but as they were
too big I just flipped through them. I am not sure if
I missed something. 

I tried your example at

- the first one 

mencoder Untitled.rm -ovc lavc -lavcopts
vcodec=mpeg4:vpass=1 -oac copy -o movie.avi
mencoder Untitled.rm -ovc lavc -lavcopts
vcodec=mpeg4:vpass=2 -oac copy -o movie.avi

	I do get some output in movie.avi – but nothing seems
to be able to open it. Even with Mplayer I get the
following output.
