Nobody responded, but the answer was very obvious in retrospect, I suppose,
and I just couldn't see it. Apparently the DSM-320 has problems with videos
with certain dimensions. The videos in question had a width of 800px and I
guess it's got a max of something around 720. Anyway, I scaled the videos
down and they worked just fine after that. Go figure.
