[MEncoder-users] mplayer + audio boast

Greetings,

        As a long time mplayer user... mostly using the mplayer-port
to OS X.  I've become spoiled by iTunes and how it can "boast" the
audio via it's equalizer.

       Is there anyway/hope that mplayer can create an equal "boaster"
for audio? I have a couple vid's that even with full system up and
mplayer volume up aren't that strong. While with iTunes I know it's
possible to boast the audio level up.... without having to re-encode
the video with mencoder with audio boast... can it be done in mplayer
in realtime w/o re-encoding? IF not is this something the devs are
considering?
