How can I encode to a compatible MPEG1 format. If I use:
*
mencoder* -of mpeg -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=*mpeg1video*:vbitrate=1200 
-nosound media.avi -o media.mpg

I get the error message during playback in mplayer:

DEMUXER: Too many (4096, 8297592 byte) video-packets in the buffer!

And in Windows (fresh install, no codec pack installed) it doesn't play 
smoothly in media players.

Should I add another switch to the command or is there something wrong 
with it.

BTW the source video was 640x480 at 25 DivX5.
