[Libav-user] Bytes per sample for different audio formats

Hi,

While investigation few issues with adopted audio trans-coding techniques,
I discovered that call to av_get_bytes_per_sample() for AV_SAMPLE_FMT_S16
returns '2', and for AV_SAMPLE_FMT_FLTP returns '4'.

What does that mean? Can someone pin-point to underlying technique?
