[Libav-user] Getting started with libavcodec

I am looking for a library to decode video files in various formats and
give me access the frame buffer for further processing. Is libavcodec what
I want?

If so, where can I find the documentation for it? The "Documentation ->
libavcodec" link on the ffmpeg site (http://ffmpeg.org/libavcodec.html)
doesn't actually seem to be documentation, although I did eventually find
the doxygen docs for avcodec.h. However, it is only a raw API reference, I
could not find a usage guide anywhere.
