does the 720x576 is right, or better 768x576?

its looks like a bit hard to find somebody who knows well the idea of the right ffmpeg command line to digitalize old vhs tapes to video files...

I think you should use either .mpg or .mkv format instead for mpeg2 video, but not sure if it would cause this problem.
