I realise you said "no git please!" but if you ever did a little git,
you could use github pages (https://pages.github.com/) to serve simple
HTML. You'd only need a couple of the commands (`git add' to include
files, `git push' to push them out to GH pages...), but I know that
may already seem like an arcane language!

Maybe there's a free wiki somewhere? You wouldn't be able to upload
HTML, but you could edit the pages content directly.
