Fair enough. Introduce me to valgrind and I'll see if I can help.

Disclosure: I don't do 'C'. I don't know how to compile in Windows -- The instructions I've found 
on-line were ambiguous or required Internet access within Windows (which I do not allow). I've tried 
cross-compiling in a Linux VM, but that failed. I gave up.
