Duplication and dropping are two opposite mechanism, though both can
happen in the same conversion. Dupes are to fill for missing frames,
drops are to remove expendable frames.

It really depends on what you were doing, Could you kindly show us the
actual command line used, and the complete console output?

Again, it depends on what you are doing, and what you need to achieve.
